This is a sketch I did in Goa, then ruined, then reconstructed.
There was this temple somewhere in Goa with a crude leopard and lion statue guarding its entrance. So when we got back to our huts I tried sketching it.
I botched my first attempt drawing it.
So I drew another version above the first.
But I dislike ruined pages in my sketchbook so I decided to paint over the botched drawing in an attempt to rescue it somewhat.

Make shift paint palette with hardened acrylic (the inside cover of my pencil kit) with a xerox of MJ and his masked children.

My trusty water colour pencils. Quite old now and generally neglected in favour of my felt pens and crayons.
The ex said they prefered the botched page now because it looked very childish.
I rather like them both next to each other, in tandem as a contrast.

Great colors, great post. Thank you.
thank you!
I like the background of the botched one and the tiger of the non-botched. And I love the makeshift paint palette.
I agree. non botched background worked out better. Which goes to show you sometimes not giving a shit helps a bit. I was too prissy with the one on top.
i have to say i like the botched one better too!
thank you
it seems to be a landslide win for botched
Greetings, fellow blogger! I would very much like to bestow upon you a very important and impressive WordPress blogging award. It’s a really big deal and you should take it super seriously. (But seriously seriously, you’re pretty cool.) (You will notice that I use variations of the word “serious” entirely too often.) http://wonderwimp.wordpress.com/2012/07/14/luhhh-vly/
sweet! thank you. I DO take it VERY seriously. I am writing my acceptance speech now, in floods of tears.
I like tiger (leopard?)’s manicure!
Oh yes! It is a leopard! Why the hell did I think it was a tiger?? Doh!
Thank you. Maybe he dipped them in blood or bought some nice nail polish.
I love all the details in the second attempt! And I agree about how cool the “manicures” look. Now I’m eying my sleeping cat, wondering if I just went really slowly…
I think you should try it! but my experience trying this with my dog was that the smell frightens them. Let me know if you are successful.
Oh man. I wish MJ and his masked children would appear in my palette! x
you should totally cut some out and paste them on. and then in some years if you open it up its a little eerie
I love your paintings!
