Assorted Photos I’m Too Lazy To Bother Organising

The title of this post is apt to say the least.

(BTW – Finalised my ongoing drafts of letter heads and business cards here) I wish I had 6 hands and 2 heads. I’d accomplish so much.

I had a good idea for an art installation:

When I was doing my BA living with Monty in New Cross Gate we used to watched all of his Friends series videos at least 2-3 times in succession. I’d always draw because I like having something in the background but it can’t be too demanding.

Now if you watch Dave or Comedy Central long enough an episode of Friends will usually come on.

There is something vaguely soothing and comforting about coming home and watching old re-runs of Friends.

That’s what I’d have as an art installation. There would be a 24/7 Friends Channel playing in a room. (I wonder what the rights to display the video would be?)

All the episodes would be looped, running on multiple tiny screens projected inside these white tent like (subtitled I think) cocoons that the viewer needs to crawl into and has to stay there for a few hours.

The multiple tents with various cocooning pouches would fill the entire room. Like one of those spider webs that encompass the entire tree.

Now for some assorted photos.

Comicon London 2013

We queued for 1.5 hours just to get in to Comicon.

It was good, but I don’t know if I could ever queue that long again.

I mean, I can barely queue over 15 mins for roller coaster rides, and there you’re getting a pure adrenaline rush as pay off.

Some highlights – Storm Troopers joyfully dominating some nerdlings by making them lie down on the ground as they bossed over them. (The nerdlings were loving it.)

The ex kicking me repeatedly while queueing for taking us to an event where we had to queue.

An Indian geek tried to hi-five everyone in the que and no one hi-fived him back.

In the tube on the way back, 2 guys plainly baffled by the random assortment of strangely dressed people getting on, gawked open-mouthed at a well suited and booted cat woman in a skin-tight outfit and thigh high boots.

Now about 47 photos.

Yes that’s right – 47.

That’s the level of restraint I can work with.

Assorted Photos In No Particular Order or Theme

A mixed bag of photos that I haven’t really sorted out in any coherent theme or scheme.

Because I’m lazy, and I’m procrastinating.

But mostly because I’m lazy.

I’ll theme the next, next lot.

That’s the lot after the next assorted lot.

These are photos from June 2012 – September 2012

Also why the hell haven’t I been using the gallery before?

Portobello Banksy Rat. I'm fairly sure this is new.

New Banksy Rat At Portobello

A new little Banksy rat has sprung up on Portobello.

I’m almost sure that it’s recent and I could easily check, since I have a photo of this wall, that I had taken a few months ago, but I’m just too fucking lazy to be bothered.

Let’s just assume it’s a new Banksy rat.

The dollar sign eyes and the little saw it’s holding seems to be a cheeky reference to the recent debacle over the Banksy that was ripped out of a wall and was found on sale in LA.

It is totally possible that it could be a fake. (Banksy is easy to fake I should imagine.)

What do you think?

Weekend #1 of partner being away:

Ate the dokhla the ex kindly made before leaving, slowly over 4-5 days

Went shopping for food last Friday so would be stocked up with ready-meals for the weekend and most of the week.

Increased my intake of plums.

Cleaner cleaned half-heartedly on Saturday morning.

Saturday afternoon sat in front on my drawing for many hours. Occasionally rallied to draw a single line. Promptly sank back into lethargic nearly-end-of-drawing-stupor

Did some laundry.

Stayed up till 4 on the Saturday watching Wonders of the Universe.

No reported psychedelic dreams on this occasion.

Went to bed at a reasonable hour on Sunday.

Didn’t leave the flat until Monday morning.

Weekend #2 of partner being away:

Dry laundry still in the washing machine.

Run out of underwear.

Am forced to go to the washing machine instead of my clothes drawer.

Didn’t re-stock food supplies all week.

Forgot to defrost food in the freezer.

Went to the pub on Thursday. Ate instant noodles for dinner.

Forgot to defrost food in the freezer again.

Went to the Monty’s on Friday. Ate 1/2 pack of salt and vinegar crisps, 1 dark chocolate bounty & 2 plums for dinner.

Went to bed at a totally unreasonable hour.

Saturday morning no cleaner.

Have very considered plans not to leave the flat at all this weekend.

Need to buy food.

Conflict with earlier resolution not to leave flat.

May need to eat more instant noodles.

End of Captain’s Log.

When It Stops Snowing I’ll Stop Posting Snow Photos

On the way to work today, they stopped the tube and changed the route midway.

We all got off the tube when we heard the muffled, barely audible, intercom message.

(As a general rule, always get off the tube even if you can’t hear the message.)

An older, slightly deaf lady had paused near the tube doorway, hesitating.

She asked me what the message said and I told her the train was going to Victoria.

She couldn’t hear me, and stepped forward a bit more.

I repeated,

“This tube isn’t going to Hammersmith anymore. It’s going to Victoria now”

Simultaneously, I was also vaguely waving my arms at her, to induce her to step forward and get off the carriage.

She still couldn’t understand and stepped forward a bit more, craning her neck to hear me.

Just at that moment, the tube doors closed, leaving her head firmly wedged in-between the doors.

A man near by leaped to help me prise the door open off the poor lady’s neck. (Which is hard!)

He comforted the stunned lady, saying the same thing happened to him too.

Who knew head-in-tube-door-wedges happened so often?

Bag – yes, Coat – yes, Arm – yes,

Snowy Day In London

At last!

I’m timely.

These photos are from London today.

It snowed all day, with huge fluffy flakes hurling down.

I wish Westbourne Park was prettier. Even a liberal dusting of snow hardly helped.

The buildings have this depressing-1950′s-council-estate quality. That yellow-brown stone, the grim concrete and metal.

I couldn’t feel my fingers after a while when I was taking these, and the ones on my right hand turned a livid pink.

I almost thought I had frostbite. I’ve turned into such a hypochondriac

The Trials Of Trappy

It’s been a few weeks since I bought my venus flytrap plant.

Frankly, I’m growing quite concerned for poor wee Trappy.

That’s the direction of name I’m leaning towards. We tried Penelope, and we tried Evelyn, but Trappy seems to have stuck. (Sorry Moof. I stole your name. It’s very catchy.)

Trappy isn’t doing so good.

Partly through sabotage, and partly my own over enthusiasm that is slowly but surely killing it.

After reading endless FAQ’s and trawling a variety of websites, it was finally drilled into my skull that even Britta filtering the water doesn’t really get rid of the minerals. (London is a hard water area, and Trappy is very finicky.)

Rain water or distilled water seemed to be the thing generally advised.

Ironically we’re were having a lovely warm spell at the time. Even when there were a few days forecast for rain, it’s an absolute bitch trying to get rain water. No one tells you that. Collecting untainted rainwater is virtually impossible.

You can’t scoop it out of a puddle (I did think of that) so I nagged at the ex to let me put some jars outside in the vain hope it might catch some rain water.

After berating me about bringing home jars and taking up room, it turns out we don’t have enough jars.

Then the jar I finally was able to wheedle off the ex, and stuck outside got nicked by some unknown person. (The ex was angry that the jar was now lost. Lost forever. Oh jar! Where are you jar? Why jar?)

The large planter I emptied and washed out kept getting blown over by the wind.

I started having bad dreams about bad water and Trappy dying. Suddenly everything depended on Trappy’s survival.

One night the ex came home drunk and stuck a finger in all of Trappy little traps while my back was turned, and forcibly closed them.

I flipped the fuck out. Like proper flipped out. I won’t go into it but I was so enraged I slept on the couch. (Thank god we have a new couch. I’d never had fit on the Leopard print couch.)

Luckily Trappy recovered by the next morning and the ex apologised so I managed to calm down. (One trap didn’t recover. It turned black and dropped off.)

I must confess the whole drunken, Trappy sabotage incident soured my love for Trappy.

For a while l felt both deeply paranoid and yet simultaneously resigned to Trappy’s death. Trappy feels ‘ruined’ now. I think I want a new one. A clean one. An untainted Trappy.

After about a week of worrying about Trappy’s water, I just bit the bullet and bought 5L of pure distilled water online.

I know. But why do things by halves? The water cost 6 times as much as Trappy did.

It turns out the dome the ex kindly bought me to house Trappy was creating too much humidity. (The Venus Flytrap forum I joined like a mega-nerd diagnosed the problem promptly.)

Also one of the flies I fed Trappy gave it indigestion. (Yes, they get indigestion. It’s a hilarious plant)

All this doesn’t bode well for wee Trappy. And it’s only a few weeks old!

I don’t know if I should bother with an artificial daylight bulb.

Maybe I’ll just wait and see how soon this one dies.

It can be my trial run.

The good thing is there are a number of new shoots sprouting. So it can’t be all bad news?

Can it?? Can it????
