AT ABOUT 9:30 I GET THIS FROM FOZ, AT THE END OF A VERY RELAXING SUNDAY.
Hope all is well. [BALLS]
Just to remind you all that we are meeting on Wednesday at 10.30 for a Crit and seminar. Have work presented on clean bits of paper with titles where necessary. No loose bits of paper please. Installation type projects (Onnalin) [POOR ONNALIN] shown in an appropriate space etc.
We need to start seeing work as you see it and not as some hypothetical nonsense. [WHAT A SCARY MOTHER!] We need to upgrade our own delivery of the work. This will give clarity to you as well as the group. [THE GROUP COULD GIVE A RATS ASS] It is also time to consolidate and build upon ideas and images we have done and not just generating new ones.
I DONT GET WHAT HE MEANS. I HAVE 1 A1 DRAWING, AND 2 A5 SKETCH BOOKS. I HATE STICKING DRAWINGS UP ON THE WALLS BECAUSE a) THEY KEEP FALLING OFF b) THE TAPE FUCKS UP THE PAPER AND LASTLY c) ITS FRICKING POINTLESS
The Sketch book project this week is to develop a minimum of 10 symbols/sernarios/images which capture ideas related to 1 theme- HAPPINESS [I LIKE THIS IDEA, IT SHOULD BE INTERESTING, I HOPE]
This week its about exploring the obvious as well as alternative ideas to what is expected and cliche. Often we stay at symbol 1 or 2 the lowest common denominator when given projects. Sometimes we need to think more laterally or in some cases more literally and be more blatant. These images can be quick doodles or quite complete images. If you do quick doodles I would expect to see more images than 10. [THERE’S REALLY NOT BULLSHITTING THIS GUY] If you feel like you have exhausted the theme pick another one which you fancy…death for instance. [HAHA DEATH, THATS WHAT HE PICKS, THAT KILLS ME, NO PUN INTENDED (OR MAYBE NOT)]
Its about developing your thinking this week. [THINKING? THINKING?! WHAT IS THIS STRANGE WORD?]
Just in case you were thinking you didn’t need to do these sketchbook
projects…your wrong and we will be viewing them at the next tutorials
in a few weeks time.”
[I LOVE THE END PARAGRAPH, JUST TO DRIVE HOME HIS TERRIFYING THREATS. “YOUR WRONG” I LOVE THAT. IT SHOULD BE FRAMED. I CAN JUST FEEL THE INVISIBLE EXCLAMATION POINT ON THE END OF IT.]
Your seminar for Wednesday is- COLOUR
We are surrounded by colour in our daily lives through both natural and man made forms. As visual communicators we often use colour in our works.
Are you aware of colour in your work? [I AM AWARE OF A POINTED LACK OF IT]
Are you avoiding colour? [NOT AVOIDING PER SAY, BUT IN CERTAIN PROJECTS IT’S UNNECESSARY..ISN’T IT??]
Are you any good at using it? [NOPE, NADA, NYET EVEN, SIGH]
Why do you use it? [WELL ACCORDING TO FOZ I MERELY USE IT TO DECORATE RATHER IT BEING ESSENTIAL TO THE WORK, WHICH IS…… SADLY TRUE]
Why are you drawn to certain colours or palattes? [PERHAPS YES]
What are they? [MUTED TONES, SEPIAS YELLOWS CREAMS BROWNS REDS PALE WASHES]
Do certain colours have specific conotation? […YES, I GUESS THEY DO, NO YES THEY DEFINITELY DO]
If so,Why? [I’M NOT SURE WHY, MEMORY? CONDITIONING]
How can you use colour to communicate and satisfy our creative needs? [SIGH, WHAT A QUESTION MAN]
Select 3 artists whose use of colour helps to communicate their ideas. Bring visual examples.
Does your use of colour add or distract from your visual communication? [FOR ME I SUPPOSE IT DISTRACTS, BUT THEN I’M NOT EFFICIENT USING IT, SIGH I FEEL SO INCOMPETENT AS A COLOUR USER, IMPOTENT EVEN, DAMN YOU EMMA & ANNA. DAMN YOU AND YOUR PIGEONS. (THEY’RE BOTH VERY GOOD WITH COLOUR)]
The Wizard of Oz,
and many more
See you Wednesday [HE SAYS AFTER ALL THAT SO CHEERILY]
CURSES TO YOU FOZ!! CURSES!!
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW TERRIFYING HIS WIFE MUST BE BASED ON THIS EMAIL.
