I had great hopes that the evil, plotting designers (you can tell by their hollow lifeless eyes) would vote against the thoroughly useless Westbourne Studios as a venue for the show. (biased, me? What are you saying??)

Geoff suggested that since we can’t put up any work on the walls we could have a show in our school studios.

In a democracy no one ever gets what they want.

The nitwit designers voted (by a slim majority) that we stick with Westbourne Studios.

sigh.

I was, and am deeply disappointed, as I imagine many others are.

A ‘cross-over crit’ is when all the 4 pathways are mixed up so you have a glimpse of what the photographers, typographers, information designers and book designers are up to (besides us super fucking cool illustrators).

And my god, was it tedious.

Information designers I cannot understand at all.

More than anything else, they’re creative accountants. Everything is shoved onto some kind of graph, statistic chart or is mapped in some mind numbingly dull and obscure way.

I have to really scold myself to focus, pay attention and try to glean some kind of sense from their entirely content driven, analytical, abstract nonsense.

They on the other hand think all the illustrators are a bunch of pervs with no purpose. (I would like to deny this but it’s all true)

Being robotic drones, I think our lack of logic must baffle them.

Needless to say the divide between the pathways seems like a huge chasm now more than ever.
